Just for the record, the "honeymoon registry" idea is frowned upon by the etiquette mavens. The Happy Couple isn’t supposed to be counting on getting gifts, but rather, to be surprised at the generosity of their family and friends on the occasion of their marriage. — aMAZon "It’s never too late to have a happy childhood."

you cant deny the fact that thousans of couples have a registry somewhere, it was just an idea. niki

That’s it’s done doesn’t make it correct. It’s an idea whose 15 minutes have expired. Couples should not expect nor count on guests to fund the wedding, the reception, the honeymoon, or their house. Prudent financial planning is in order and if a couple can’t afford any of those things, they wait and save. Hope this helps, Noe

Can you use punctuation. Then we’d be able to understand what you are saying and you wouldn’t look so stupid. I take it you do have capitals, commas, return keys and full stops on your keyboard as I see you do have a question and brackets.

The marriage license is a requirement of the state, not of the church.
I’m not sure how your cousin handles it, but typically the Catholic church has you attend marital classes (I believe they are called pre-cana (?)) I don’t think there is a time limit on them, but you might have to look into that, so you aren’t caught with no classes and a couple days to go.
Ours was taken care of a year ago – as the class doesn’t ‘expire.’
i am also doing a > special ceremony to remember my father
This is a good idea! A lot of people honor deceased family at their wedding. Some people do it in a program, some people do it in a moment of silence and/or prayer… Very nice idea.

I would definitely check with the cousins to see if it would be alright to arrive in your dress. If it’s not a super-formal dress (more like a nice bridesmaid dress or maybe even an informal dress without a train) you could probably pass off as a "regular guest." Or as another option, you could change into a nice suit or dress after you get married.

Just have the church wedding !!!! Hire a wedding dress from a charity shop, or borrow from mother/friend/relation(female) Then have no reception or anything, but if people want to turn up at a particular bar/grill in town where you will happen to be hanging out that evening with your new husband, they are most welcome to do so.

You didn’t note what type of reception you’d like (formal/informal…how many guests, etc), so I’m just going to list some very general suggestions. Location – backyard, state park, a relative’s garden, fire hall, church basement, etc. Food & drink – check out local grocery store prices (especially for cake and appetizers), check prices at local restaurants (fried chicken is sometimes moderately priced), look into rental prices (food warmers, coffee pots, platters, punch bowls, etc), see if relatives are willing to lend serving pieces or if you can use your own (not all couples have them though), make as much as possible yourself…ahead of time (some items can be frozen in the cooked state, then thawed & warmed on the day of the wedding), forego the alcohol (translates into a huge saving in costs), make your own punch (7-up and some type of fruit juice usually works quite well), time your reception so that it is between meal times, etc. Decorating, Favors, etc. – Try to find a spot where decorating is a non-issue (for example, the state park we were married in needed very little decorating..a nice garden also needs very little), check your local dollar store for items such as tablecloths and/or possible centerpiece options, do it yourself (centerpieces and favors – you can find plenty of free wedding craft project ideas on the Web), an instant "wedding" look can be achieved by using a lot of tulle/netting (about $1 a yard or less if you don’t go for the "Bridal" tulle), you can also use white Xmas lights (cool-to-the-touch) and/or flowers from a relative’s garden, haunt the thrift shops for containers to be used in your centerpieces (wine glasses, bowls, etc.)…and so on. This is where I will stop (the baby needs fed), but there are plenty of other ideas to help you save money on the costs of your reception. Put the terms "frugal wedding", "wedding frugality" or "saving money on your wedding" into any search engine (such as google.com) to bring up various pages that will help you with more ideas. p.s. – My wedding & reception cost under $700.00 so it is definitely possible to have an affordable wedding if you wish to do so. You need a license for your wedding to be legal and registered in the city or town where you are married. The samelicense works for all religions or even a justice of the peace. > we found out that that same day his cousin is getting > married my fiance thought that it would be nice to go to the wedding after > our wedding since we are getting married at 2 30 and she is getting married > at 4 00 is it appropriate for us to go to his cousins wedding after we get > married?
I’d ask her if she minded you showing up in your wedding dress. Some brides might object to that. gloria p
